Today we finished a great movie called The Odyssey. It was about a brave man named Odysseus who went on an intense journey with monsters who swallow the tide, one-eyed giants called Cyclopes, and beautiful women who use magic to get what they want. I enjoyed the movie tremendously after I I read The Adventures of Ulysses which is a translated version of The Odyssey. All those images that I created in my head from reading it suddenly came to life in the movie. I really recommend watching it.
We had an open house at Sacred Hearts and it was not that successful. Not very many people showed up. I think it was because it was in the morning. Usually we have the open house in the afternoon and a lot of people show up. It also was not practical because if a parent had two kids and they wanted to visit both classes, they couldn't because of the way it was organized. I think we can learn from this experience and make the next open house perfect. It wasn't all bad because their were delicious doughnuts to eat and juice to drink.
This morning as we went to greet the garden, I was shocked at how tall they have grown. After killing the aphids and white flies, the plants just sprouted like crazy. I am proud of our little garden bed. Our hard work had paid off.
Yesterday, the class had interviews for May Day to determine who would be the specific positions. It was really scary. I was the first one to be interviewed, and I was super nervous. First, I chanted a greeting chant in order to enter the room. Then, I read my "I Am Poem" and answered their questions. When it was over I was relieved because I felt that I did good.
